I've been meeting with some coaches from Dobson High School. We are going through a Bible study written by a former coach. It is called Legacy Builders. It is a great resource for coaches and our ministry at FCA.
I ask for prayer concerning the group. Our discussions have been good. They are engaged and just the fact that they are showing up consistently at 6 AM on Wed. is encouraging. I know their schedules are busy. My prayer is that this study does not become routine. I'm asking you to pray that the scripture we study will impact their lives and would help change their coaching, parenting, husband-ing or wife-ing, and daily relationship with God.
Today we talked about not grinding out our Christianity and coaching, but like Mary in Luke 10:38 drawing near to Jesus and hearing his words. The title of the study was "Be to do" not "Do to be." We want to start with a heart change, and let our renewed spirit direct what we "do."
I think many of us have it backwards. We may be trying to force the relationship thinking, I have to be doing this, or I feel bad because I'm not doing this. We are trying to encourage one another to stop thinking about what we need to be doing, and start thinking about just listening to what God wants to teach us and how He wants to change us.
If He is teaching and changing us, we will know what to do.
